Russian Strike on Ohmatdyt: A Slap to NATO

The Russian missile attack on the Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, ahead of the NATO summit, is a deliberate action approved by Vladimir Putin. This was reported by Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office, on Telegram on Monday, July 8.

“This is an absolutely deliberate action, specifically designed and approved by Putin. On the eve of the NATO summit. As a slap to the Alliance. Russia sends an informal signal to everyone: ‘Even the blatant murder of children will not force them (the Alliance) to make all necessary decisions. And so we continue to attack,'” wrote Podolyak.

He also noted that almost simultaneously with the strike on children in Kyiv, the leaders of Hungary and China called for an “immediate ceasefire.” “This demand is not addressed to Russia. It is addressed only to the West and Ukraine. The aim is to create a false sense: the aggressor has the right to kill because he talks about ‘peace,’ while the victim should not defend itself and should immediately cease resistance, leaving territories and citizens to the aggressor. This looks extremely unnatural and certainly encourages Russia to continue attacking,” he added.

Podolyak reminded that Russia continues to chair the UN Security Council, calling it “an absolutely blasphemous signal to all neutral countries: there are no rules, and direct cannibalism is encouraged.” He emphasized that the lack of an adequate UN response to Russia’s obvious crimes threatens the world with “a horrible short history of bloody chaos, in which life has no value, and death becomes a new synonym for the word ‘Russia.'”

To recall, on the morning of July 8, the occupiers massively attacked several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv. Air defense shot down 30 missiles, but the attack caused significant casualties – more than 20 Kyiv residents were killed and over 80 injured. Among the attacked objects was the Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital, hit by an X-101 missile.
