On July 8, 2024, Russian invaders launched a terrible missile attack on the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, which led to an urgent need for support. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation promptly responded to the call for help, and already on July 12, three days after the tragedy, handed over two modern resuscitation vehicles – fully equipped ambulances – to the hospital.

“Okhmatdyt’s support is extremely important for us, because it is help for Ukrainian doctors who save children despite the risks and challenges of war. Reanimobiles, which the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation gave to the hospital, are modernly equipped cars that are already ready to help medical workers perform their difficult and very valuable work of preserving the health and lives of our children – the most precious treasure and the future of Ukraine,” emphasized Iryna Blazhan, program director Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

General Director of the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, Volodymyr Zhovnir, also expressed gratitude for the help: “Thank you for the help. You have always supported us, but after such an attack, it is extremely important. This is work for the future – so that Ukraine can preserve the life of every citizen. We are all working for the future, for the health and lives of children, so that Ukraine is a strong, independent, capable country that each of us will be proud of.”

In addition, the Foundation responded to the request of Okhmatdyt Hospital and is ready to provide its patients with machines for hemodialysis (kidney replacement procedures). These devices will help save the health and lives of young patients who were treated in the now destroyed building and continue to fight for their lives in other hospitals of the country.

It is not the first time that the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helps medical institutions of Ukraine with ambulances. In particular, in 2019, on the personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, the project “200 ambulances for Ukraine” was implemented, which allowed to increase the level of emergency assistance in the country. In a record-breaking six months, state medical institutions in all regions received 200 special vehicles with the most modern equipment capable of overcoming off-road conditions, including 22 vehicles with ventilators.

“200 ambulances for Ukraine” is the largest private charity project in the field of emergency medicine since Independence.

Also, Rinat Akhmetov’s business joined in helping Okhmatdyt Hospital. FUIB Bank transferred UAH 3 million to the collection for overcoming the consequences of the attack on the hospital to the “Tabletochki” charity fund. UAH 1 million each was provided by the Center for Economic Development and the “Lemtrans” company.
