Israeli authorities are warning Lebanon of the threat of a “devastating war” after the shelling of a stadium in the Golan Heights. The only condition for avoiding military action, according to Israel, is the disarmament and withdrawal of Hezbollah forces. This was stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Oren Marmorshtein, on his page on the X social network (Twitter) on Sunday, July 28.
Marmorstein noted that the shelling of the stadium on the Golan Heights, which took place the day before, is the responsibility of Hezbollah. He emphasized that the missile that hit the stadium was Iranian-made. “Israel will exercise its right and duty to act in self-defense and respond to the shelling,” the spokesman emphasized.
The Israeli official called on the international community to take decisive action, in particular, to recognize the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization and impose sanctions on it. He emphasized that only the disarmament of Hezbollah in accordance with the resolution 1701 of the UN Security Council can prevent a large-scale war, which will be catastrophic for Lebanon as well.
Now is the decisive moment to achieve the disarmament of Hezbollah by diplomatic means, concluded Marmorstein.
