As Time Ukraine Israel reports, citing Israel’s Channel 7, the visit of Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog to Yeshiva Maale Eliyagu in Tel Aviv-Yafo to celebrate Tisha Be’Av caused a wave of indignation and incitement on social networks. This event caused a sharp controversy among citizens and activists.
The incitement campaign was launched against a yeshiva linked to Rabbi Tzvi Tau, suspected of serious wrongdoing and known for his ultra-Orthodox views. Numerous messages accusing Herzog of espousing “anti-liberal” and “anti-democratic” sentiments have surfaced on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
One of the protesters expressed his indignation: “President Herzog prefers to promote racism, LGBT-phobia and misogyny. Together we will remind him that there are mistakes that need to be corrected. Sign and share the petition.”
Meanwhile, political commentator Yaki Adamkar emphasized in his commentary that such protests undermine respect for traditional religious values and create a split in society. He noted that the protests against the president’s visit are connected with the desire to undermine unity in the country.
The situation surrounding Herzog’s visit to Maale Eliyagu continues to provoke public debate and highlights deep divisions in Israeli society.
