It has recently been officially announced that F-16 fighter jets have already arrived in Ukraine. Additionally, there are reports that the country is set to receive Saab JAS 39 Gripen aircraft, highlighting Ukraine’s strategic approach to modernizing its air force.
Aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchynsky, Deputy Director of an electronic warfare equipment manufacturing company, told Channel 24 that partners are actively training Ukrainian pilots to operate the new aircraft. Many modern jets are equipped with a unified protocol that enables integration within a single management system.
Fighters for Ukraine
According to Khrapchynsky, the Saab JAS 39 Gripen, equipped with long-range radar detection, can effectively operate in conjunction with the F-16. The Gripen serves as a command aircraft capable of coordinating air operations based on data obtained from ground forces. Its powerful radars allow the crew to continuously monitor the aerial situation.
“F-16 and Saab share a common communication protocol, enabling them to work together and exchange critical information,” he said.
Khrapchynsky emphasized that the Saab JAS 39 Gripen is relatively cost-effective to operate and less demanding in terms of airfield quality. The aircraft’s protocol allows for weapon deployment in various terrains.
“In the future, Gripen could become the primary aircraft for the Ukrainian Air Force,” he added.
Thus, integrating Gripen into Ukraine’s air force could significantly enhance its capabilities and effectiveness in aerial operations
