On August 7, Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian told French President Emmanuel Macron that Tehran reserves the right to respond to actions by Israel, which he considers “criminal.”
“Western countries must stop supporting Israel if they want to prevent the spread of war and chaos in the region. We will not remain silent when it comes to our interests and security,” Pezeshkian stated.
The Iranian President emphasized that they would act within the framework of international law and agreements. He also highlighted that preventing war and establishing global peace and security are core values for Tehran.
US diplomatic efforts to soften Iran’s response to the elimination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh might prove effective.
It remains unclear how Tehran finances its anti-Israeli activities. Iran’s main source of income is oil exports, which continue despite numerous sanctions.
Some countries, including Saudi Arabia, are ready to support Israel and avert a potential strike.
