In the United States in 2024, 215 cases related to cucumbers were registered. Salmonella Brandrup usually affects older people, with an average age of about 30 years. In Israel, 64% of the infected are women.
Investigation and sources of infection:
Israel’s Ministry of Health has launched an investigation into the outbreak. According to the information, 43 patients reported consumption of fish prepared at home and in restaurants. Three cases of eating raw fish, probably sushi, were found at a restaurant in Yehuda, and three cases at a restaurant in Jaffa in June. 18 patients indicated chicken meat as a possible source of infection.
