Germany will provide an additional €100 million in winter aid to Ukraine, in response to ongoing Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, announced German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during the 5th Support Conference for Moldova in Chișinău, according to Rheinische Post.

Baerbock emphasized that supporting Ukraine also means supporting Moldova and European democracy as a whole. She noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin aimed to destroy Moldova, but instead, the country, like Ukraine, has become a candidate for EU membership.

“The key now is to further stabilize Moldova. The greatest concern among locals is that if Ukraine falls, Moldova will be next,” the German Foreign Minister highlighted.

Baerbock also met with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. Later in the day, she is scheduled to visit the Strategic Communication and Counter-Disinformation Center in Chișinău, where a bilateral agreement on cybersecurity cooperation is set to be signed.
