Israel maintains civilian safety guidelines after Hezbollah pager explosions in Lebanon

Герцль Га-Леві

Israel’s military announced there would be no changes to civilian protection guidelines following a series of pager explosions in Lebanon, which were used by members of Hezbollah for communication. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) made this statement after a situational assessment conducted by senior military commanders, including Chief of Staff General Herzi Halevi.

In the statement released Tuesday evening, the IDF mentioned that the commanders focused on both offensive and defensive preparations across all fronts, though no further details were provided.

“The IDF spokesperson clarifies that, for now, there are no changes in the defensive instructions issued by the Home Front Command,” the statement said.

The military urged the public to remain vigilant and stay alert for any updates to the policy, which would be announced immediately. These directives pertain to civilian instructions to seek shelter in case of an attack, as reported by the BBC.

At least 11 people were killed, and more than 4,000 were injured, including dozens of Hezbollah militants, medical personnel, and the Iranian ambassador to Beirut, after the pager explosions used for communication. Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attacks, holding it “fully responsible” and threatening retaliation.

Israel has not yet commented on the pager explosions in Lebanon.
