A second wave of deadly explosions rocked Lebanon on Wednesday, claiming the lives of 14 people and injuring more than 450 others. The blasts primarily targeted handheld radios used by Hezbollah members, coming just a day after a similar attack on pagers linked to the militant group that killed 12 and left thousands injured, reported The time of israel.

One of the explosions took place at a funeral in Sidon, organized by Hezbollah to mourn the victims of Tuesday’s attack. Witnesses reported damaged cars and buildings, with rescue teams rushing to the scene as chaos unfolded.

According to Lebanon’s Red Cross, the explosions were reported across several areas, including the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold. Local rescue services confirmed that the devices detonating were handheld radios recently acquired by Hezbollah.

The incidents have sharply escalated the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. While Israel has not officially commented on the blasts, many observers believe these coordinated attacks are part of a larger Israeli operation aimed at crippling Hezbollah’s communication networks and military capabilities.

Experts warn that this new wave of violence risks plunging Lebanon deeper into instability, with the threat of a broader regional conflict looming. The attacks come amid daily rocket fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as tensions continue to simmer along Israel’s northern border.

As the situation deteriorates, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that Israel is shifting its focus to the northern front, calling the current phase “the beginning of a new war front.” Israeli military reinforcements have already been deployed to the region in preparation for what appears to be a prolonged and intensifying conflict.
