Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff slammed former President Donald Trump for his anti-Semitic comments. In an interview with “GMA” host Michael Strahan, Emhoff, who is Jewish, said that Trump “said vile, anti-Semitic things,” ABC News reported.
Typical gaslighting
Strahan asked Emghoff about Trump’s July interview on WABC in which he claimed Vice President Kamala Harris, Emghoff’s wife, “doesn’t like Jews.” Emhoff responded: “This is typical Donald Trump gaslighting. He repeatedly said incredibly vile, anti-Semitic things. So for him to say that, I just almost laugh.”
Criticism of Trump
It’s not the first time Emhoff has criticized Trump for his rhetoric about Jewish Americans. In May, he called him anti-Semitic after Trump said Jews who voted for President Joe Biden “should have their heads checked.”
Protection of the wife
On Wednesday, Emhoff spoke at two Harris-Waltz campaign fundraisers, where he defended his wife against comments by Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who suggested Harris had “nothing” to “keep her modest.” as she has no biological children. Emhoff noted, “We know that all parents, no matter how they become parents, make the same sacrifices and enjoy the same joys of parenting as any other parent.”
