Kyiv, Ukraine – In the Darnytsky district of the capital, operatives of the National Police detained a man who, as a result of a conflict that arose during a feast, fatally stabbed his opponent.
In the incident that took place on Rroshuvalnaya Street, the police received a call about the discovery of the body of a 39-year-old man with a stab wound to the neck. The investigative team and the criminal police immediately went to the scene to find out the circumstances of the tragedy.
According to law enforcement officers, the evening began with the joint consumption of alcoholic beverages by several acquaintances, but later the situation got out of control. The conflict between the two men broke out due to jealousy of a mutual acquaintance and turned into a fight. One of the men grabbed a household knife and stabbed the opponent in the neck, after which he fled, leaving the murder weapon at the scene of the crime.
The operatives quickly established the identity of the suspect – a 36-year-old man, who had previously repeatedly come into the police’s field of view for committing thefts and grievous bodily harm. Within a few hours, he was searched and detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The Darnytsk District Prosecutor’s Office took the case under control, the investigators informed the detainee that he was suspected of committing the crime provided for in part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional murder. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention, which provides for a possible punishment of up to 15 years of imprisonment.
