Israeli army prepares for ground maneuver at Lebanon border, says commander

The Israeli army has been instructed to prepare for a potential ground maneuver at the Lebanon border, as preventing arms shipments from Iran to Hezbollah remains a top priority. On Thursday, September 26, Israeli Air Force Commander Tomer Bar stated that the military is committed to stopping any weapons transfer from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“We will prevent any opportunity for arms transfers from Iran,” Bar emphasized. He added that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), alongside the Northern Command, are preparing for a possible ground operation.

“We are preparing, but whether or not it will happen is our decision. The threats there are significant,” Bar noted, hinting that Israeli operations may soon extend into northern Lebanon.

Last week, Israel launched its heaviest airstrikes on Lebanon since the 2006 war. In retaliation, Hezbollah fired hundreds of rockets at Israeli targets, including Tel Aviv, the country’s economic hub.
