Following reports of the bombing of Hezbollah’s headquarters in Beirut and the possible death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah, a number of airlines that continued to fly to Israel despite the risks have canceled their flights. This is reported by israelinfo. This situation occurred a few days before the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, which is forcing many Israelis to reconsider their plans for vacations abroad.

Air France announced last night that it was canceling its flights to Israel for the coming weekend.

Other major airlines also extended flight cancellations. British Airways and Greece’s Aegean Airlines will suspend flights to Israel until at least October 7, while Spain’s Iberia will suspend flights until October 4, Poland’s LOT until October 3, and Italy’s ITA Airlines until September 29.

Earlier, the German Lufthansa group and the Latvian Air Baltic announced the suspension of flights until October 15.

Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair has suspended flights to Israel until October 24, while EasyJet does not plan to resume flights until March 2025. Hungarian Wizz Air was the only European low-cost carrier that announced a gradual return to the Israeli market.

American airlines have already decided to stop flying to Israel: United has suspended flights indefinitely, American Airlines until April 2025, and Delta Airlines until December 31, 2024.
