Israel Launches Massive Airstrikes on Houthi Targets in Yemen After Missile Attacks

On Sunday, Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen after militants fired rockets at Israeli territory over the past two days, Reuters reports. Dozens of aircraft, including fighter jets, were involved in the operation, targeting key infrastructure such as power plants and the ports of Ras Isa and Al-Hudaydah.

While Israel had previously responded to Houthi attacks, this raid appears to be its largest on Yemen, hitting over 10 targets.

Images from Al-Hudaydah show massive explosions and clouds of dust covering parts of the city, causing significant power outages.

In a statement, Israel accused the Houthis of operating under the direction and funding of Iran to destabilize the region and disrupt global shipping. The Houthis have repeatedly attacked Israel since the Gaza war began on October 7.

Their latest attack involved a ballistic missile fired at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, which Israel intercepted. Another missile launched on Friday was also intercepted.
