On Monday morning, the Palestinian militant group Hamas announced that its leader in Lebanon, Fatah Sharif Abu al-Amin, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. According to Reuters, several of his family members were also killed in the attack, which targeted the al-Bass refugee camp near the city of Tyre.

Hamas confirmed in a press release, cited by EFE, that Abu al-Amin was a prominent figure within the movement in Lebanon and a member of its external leadership. He and his family were killed in their home during the strike on the refugee camp.

Lebanon’s official ANI news agency reported the Israeli airstrike on the camp but did not provide further details on casualties.

The incident occurred amid a surge in Israeli military operations in Lebanon. Israel’s military announced that it had struck dozens of Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley region, without mentioning Hamas. According to an Israeli Civil Defense spokesperson, the targeted sites included missile launchers and weapons depots.

Additionally, a Palestinian militant group reported that three of its leaders were killed in an Israeli strike on Beirut, marking the first such attack within the city. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) confirmed that the strike hit the top floor of a residential building in the Cola district of the Lebanese capital.
