Ukrainian forces destroy Russian Nebo-M radar system using ATACMS missiles – paving the way for Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles

ATACMS

The General Staff of Ukraine announced on Thursday that Kyiv’s forces successfully struck a Russian Nebo-M radar system using U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles, The Kyiv Independent reports.

The Nebo-M system, valued at approximately $100 million, is designed to detect and intercept aerial threats, including ballistic missiles. The Ukrainian military stated that destroying this radar will create an “air corridor” for more efficient use of Storm Shadow and Scalp cruise missiles.

It is believed that Russia has only 10 operational Nebo-M systems left, although The Kyiv Independent could not verify this claim.

Earlier this year, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) also targeted a modernized Nebo-U radar system in Russia’s Bryansk region, according to an SBU source.
