On Saturday morning, a tragedy occurred at the Dead Sea: A 51-year-old man, probably a tourist, drowned on the beach of the Ein Bokek hotel complex. This was reported by Israeli Channel 9.

Circumstances of the incident

The information about the man’s drowning was received around five o’clock in the morning. An ambulance crew responded to the call, and its paramedic, Elad Fess, described the events at the scene: “When we arrived, several people were already trying to pull the man out of the water. He was unconscious, not breathing, and had no pulse. We started resuscitation measures: we performed indirect heart massage, artificial lung ventilation, and used medications. Unfortunately, after long attempts at resuscitation, we had to pronounce the man dead.”

Dangers of the Dead Sea

Drowning in the Dead Sea is a difficult task because the “over-salted” water pushes the human body to the surface like a cork. At the same time, even in such conditions, a person can drown if they panic because of salt water getting into their eyes or lose consciousness due to illness. Therefore, it is recommended that you swim in the Dead Sea only at certain times when lifeguards are present on the beach.

This incident highlights the importance of complying with safety rules when holidaying at resorts. The tragedy at the Dead Sea is a reminder of the need for care and caution, as even in seemingly safe conditions, emergencies can occur.
