The Iron Swords war continues for the second year, with Israel conducting air strikes against targets in Lebanon and continuing operations against terrorist groups in Gaza.
Sunday, 6 October 2024, marks the 366th day of the Iron Swords War, which Israel is waging against terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip, Judea, Samaria, Lebanon and Syria. The hostilities, which began on 7 October 2023, covered several fronts, including air and ground operations. This was reported by newsru.co.il.
Operations on multiple fronts
IDF ground forces continue operations in Lebanon, conducting air strikes on the outskirts of Beirut, including on strategic targets of the Hezbollah terrorist group. The Israeli Air Force also intercepted drones approaching from the east, destroying them over the Mediterranean Sea. At the same time, Hezbollah continues to fire rockets at Israeli territory, in response to which the IDF attacks the terrorists’ headquarters in Gaza. In the north of the Strip, in the Jabaliya area, large-scale cleansing operations are underway. Operations against militants also continue in Judea and Samaria.
Timeline of events on 6 October 2024
- 09:00: According to Lebanese sources, the Israeli Air Force strikes a target in Mayfadoun, south of Nabatiyeh, about 10 km from the Israeli border.
- 08:00: The IDF announced that on the night of 6 October, the 162nd Division launched an operation to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the Jabaliya area. The forces of the 401st and 460th Brigades surrounded the area where Hamas militants are located, and the aviation, together with the 215th Brigade, destroyed dozens of targets, including ammunition depots and underground communications.
- 07:00: A “Tzeva Adom” alert was issued in several towns in northern Israel, including Kiryat Shmona, due to rocket fire from Lebanon. Two surface-to-surface rockets were intercepted.
- 06:00: The Israeli Air Force carried out a series of strikes on Hezbollah targets in various parts of Beirut, including ammunition depots. At the same time, IDF quadcopters attacked terrorist targets in Jabaliya, in the northern Gaza Strip.
- 05:00: West of Tubas, in the Aqaba area, the IDF conducts military operations, during which clashes occurred with the detention of suspects.
- 04:00: An Israeli military corvette successfully intercepts two drones launched from the east. Strikes were also carried out on targets in the southern part of Beirut.
- 03:00: The Israeli Air Force attacks the Hamas headquarters located in the Ibn Rushd school building in Dir al-Balah. Civilians, including children, are among the dead.
- 02:00: Israeli forces strike al-Shafa school in Gaza. There are reports of deaths and injuries.
- 01:00: Lebanese sources report an Israeli air force attack on 30 targets in southern Beirut. The IDF confirms the strikes.
- 00:00: The IDF fired at targets in the Al-Sirah and Zaytun areas of southeastern Gaza. Rockets from Lebanon landed in Kiryat Shmona, causing damage. The “Tzevah Adom” alert in the Golan proved to be false.
Humanitarian measures
The IDF has announced the expansion of the Al-Mawassi humanitarian zone in the western Gaza Strip, which includes field hospitals, tent cities, food, water and medical stores. Two new evacuation routes were opened for civilians.
The Iron Swords war has been going on for over a year now, and Israel is simultaneously conducting operations on several fronts, from Lebanon to Gaza. The fight against terrorist groups is not only aimed at destroying their infrastructure, but also at protecting civilians through the establishment of humanitarian zones and evacuation routes.
