American singer Taylor Swift has set a new record in the music industry by topping the annual ranking of the world’s richest musicians according to Forbes magazine. Her net worth has reached an impressive $1.6 billion, putting her ahead of Rihanna, who is ranked second with $1.4 billion.
Swift’s achievement is unique in that she became the first artist in history to earn a billion solely from her music career. Unlike Rihanna, whose income is largely derived from her cosmetics and fashion business, Swift earns exclusively through music sales, tours and royalties.
Last year alone, Taylor earned more than $100 million in royalties from streaming platforms, including Spotify, which was a significant contribution to her success.
The list of the richest musicians also includes rapper Jay-Z, whose net worth is $2.5 billion, as well as Selena Gomez ($1.3 billion), Madonna ($850 million) and Beyoncé ($760 million).
Swift’s new status only underscores her outstanding influence in the music world, as well as her ability to translate her creativity into financial success on the global stage.
