Police in Kyiv region have completed a pre-trial investigation into the head of the inter-district medical and social expert commission (MSEC), who is accused of facilitating military service evasion. The 59-year-old official organised an illegal scheme under which men of military age received fictitious disability certificates, which allowed them to avoid mobilisation and go abroad. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv region police.
The investigation established that the defendant entered false information into official documents, artificially granting disability status to the evaders. This made it possible to obtain a deferral from service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, the men used these certificates to travel outside the country without hindrance.
During the searches of the official’s residence and car, law enforcement officers seized more than $25,000, €1,600 and copies of medical documents. According to the police, these funds could have been obtained as a result of a criminal scheme.

In September this year, the defendant was officially notified of suspicion. The case was brought to court under the supervision of the Bila Tserkva Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region. The official faces up to seven years in prison on charges of forgery in office (Article 366(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and illegal transportation of persons across the state border (Article 332(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
