Ukrainian troops have successfully attacked the strategically important 67th arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defence in Bryansk Oblast. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 9 October.
The operation was carried out by units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with other units of the Defence Forces. The depot contained ammunition for rocket and artillery weapons, including those from North Korea, as well as guided aerial bombs (GAB). Much of this ammunition was stored in the open, increasing its vulnerability to attack.
According to the General Staff, numerous explosions were recorded on the territory of the arsenal after the strike. Local authorities blocked roads in the area of the depot. The official results of the operation are currently being clarified, but preliminary data indicate significant losses for the Russian army.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stressed that the destruction of such arsenals creates serious logistical difficulties for Russian troops, which could significantly reduce their offensive potential in key areas. It is important to note that there are only about two dozen such arsenals in Russia, and each of them stores tens of thousands of tonnes of ammunition.
This attack is another step in Ukraine’s attempts to weaken the logistical capabilities of the Russian occupiers and reduce their ability to conduct offensive operations.
