Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed that the Starlink modules for Ukraine are fully funded by Poland, not Elon Musk or his companies. This support provides the Ukrainian military with uninterrupted access to the Internet, even in areas of active hostilities, which is critical for the coordination of defence operations. Poland will continue to finance these purchases, Sikorski said at the press conference, according to TimeUkraineIsrael.

Poland’s position at the Ramstein summit

Polish President Andrzej Duda is expected to present his country’s position on further support for Ukraine at the international summit in Ramstein. Sikorski noted that Poland has prepared a position so that the president can speak not only on his own behalf, but also on behalf of the Polish state. The discussion will focus on what Poland has already done and what further steps it intends to take to support the Ukrainian army.

Sikorski emphasised that the Starlink modules in Ukraine are managed and funded exclusively by Poland. “Elon Musk is not involved in financing this programme. We are providing the Ukrainian army with Internet access via Starlink on our own, and no one else is doing it,” he stressed. This is one of the key factors that allows Ukrainians to continue to successfully resist Russian aggressors.

Postponement of the summit due to hurricanes

The Ramstein summit scheduled for next Saturday to discuss military aid to Ukraine has been postponed due to the absence of US President Joe Biden. His visit to Europe has been postponed due to the natural disasters in the United States. Despite this, Poland remains active in supporting Ukraine and is preparing further initiatives.

Starlink is a SpaceX project founded by Elon Musk that uses thousands of satellites in low earth orbit to provide global access to high-speed internet. This system allows access to the Internet even in places where traditional networks are inaccessible due to destruction or other restrictions. In the context of the war in Ukraine, Starlink has become a vital tool for communications and connectivity in critical situations.
