On the morning of 11 October 2024, the Israeli army press service confirmed the elimination of Mohammed Abdullah, commander of the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad, during an operation in the Nur al-Shams camp, located near Tul Karem. This is reported by the news portal TimeUkraIneisrael with reference to Israeli Channel 9.

The operation took place as a result of a precision air strike on the car Abdullah was travelling in. Another militant was killed along with him, both of whom were armed and posed a serious threat to security in the region.

It is worth noting that Mohammed Abdullah took over as commander of Islamic Jihad in Nur al-Sham only on 29 August 2024, after the liquidation of his predecessor, Mohammed Jaber (Abu Shujaa). Thus, his tenure lasted less than a month and a half.

This event underscores the ongoing tensions in the region and the efforts of Israeli security forces to neutralise terrorist threats.
