On the night of 14 October 2024, Ukraine experienced an unprecedented moment: for the first time in 47 days, no Russian Shahed drones were spotted in the country’s skies. This information was confirmed by monitoring channels that track air activity. The last time Russian troops did not launch drones of this type was on 29 August, cursorinfo reports .

Shahed drones, which have been actively used by Russia to attack critical infrastructure, have become a key tool in the aggressor country’s air campaigns. Manufactured in Iran, these drones were supplied to Russia to fight in Ukraine, causing significant damage to cities and civilians. Frequent nighttime attacks by “Shaheds” posed serious threats to the safety of Ukrainian citizens, striking residential areas and critical facilities.

The absence of nighttime attacks may indicate a temporary change in strategy on the part of the Russian military or technical reasons that remain unknown at this time. This lull could be an important signal for Ukraine and its allies, as it could indicate a disruption in the supply of drones or a lack of resources to operate them.

Ukrainian officials emphasise that it is important to remain vigilant, as the situation on the frontline can change very quickly. The absence of Shahed drones in the sky is a positive development that gives Ukraine the opportunity to focus on rebuilding and strengthening its defence capabilities.

Thus, it is important to monitor developments, as this trend may open up new horizons for strategic planning and response to the aggressor’s actions.
