The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, said that the UK is developing its own proposals for the implementation of the Ukrainian “victory plan”. This became known after a telephone conversation between Syrsky and British Defence Chief Tony Radakin, Reuters reports.
“We discussed the possibility of striking at enemy military targets at the depths of the operational and strategic lines,” the general wrote on his Telegram page. “Currently, the British side is working on its proposals as part of the practical implementation of the victory plan,” Syrsky added.
The general’s statement comes hours before President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to present a “victory plan” to the Verkhovna Rada, The Kyiv Independent reports. Some of the more sensitive details of the plan will be announced only to the leaders of parliamentary factions, said David Arakhamia, a member of the ruling party.
Zelenskyy has also been invited to present the plan at the EU leaders’ summit this week. Earlier, the president had already shared it with US President Joe Biden and other key partners, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
General Syrsky added that key elements of cooperation between Ukraine and the UK include the supply of military equipment, weapons, personnel training, and improving the effectiveness of the use of high-tech weapons.
Some components of the “victory plan” have already been announced: among them is continued military and political support from the West in Kyiv’s confrontation with Russia’s large-scale aggression. The main components are focused on the military, diplomatic and economic spheres, as well as on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. One of the key points is Ukraine’s invitation to join NATO.
Mykhailo Podolyak, a consultant to President Zelenskyy, stressed that the plan envisages continuing strikes on Russian territory. “In the Russian regions where this happened, people already perceive the war differently and do not believe in propaganda,” Podolyak said.
The plan consists of four key elements, none of which involve concessions of territory to Russia.
