The death of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, will make peace in the Middle East “more attainable,” US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Friday, Reuters reports.
“I’m glad Bibi decided to do what he had to do,” Trump said, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Speaking after arriving in Detroit, Michigan, where he attended a rally, Trump added that Netanyahu “did a good job”.
Israel announced on Thursday that Yahya Sinwar was killed during a military operation in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. The 61-year-old radical leader had been the head of Hamas, an Iranian-backed organisation, since 2017.
