Ukraine and Russia on Friday exchanged 95 prisoners of war from each side after talks mediated by the United Arab Emirates. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the return of Ukrainian soldiers who defended Mariupol, Azovstal and other regions.
“This is another step towards the day when freedom will be returned to all our citizens who are in Russian captivity,” Zelenskyy said. Russia also confirmed the return of 95 of its military.
Previous prisoner exchanges were mediated by the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
