Worrying reports of North Korean troop involvement
The chairman of the US House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, Congressman Mike Turner, called on the White House to hold an urgent briefing in connection with information about the possible involvement of North Korean troops in the conflict in Ukraine on the side of Russia. According to Turner, the information about the involvement of the North Korean military is “alarming” and indicates a serious escalation of hostilities in the region.
A “red line” for the US and NATO
In his letter to President Joe Biden, Turner stressed that North Korean military involvement in the war should be a “red line” that cannot be crossed. He called on the administration to make clear the readiness of the United States and NATO to respond to such actions.
“If North Korean troops attack Ukraine from or enter Russian territory, it should be a clear red line for the US and NATO,” Turner said.

The need for a briefing in the Intelligence Committee
In addition, the congressman expressed the need to urgently convene a briefing at the Intelligence Committee to discuss in detail the possibility of North Korean troops being involved in the war in Ukraine. These moves are indicative of the growing concern within the US government about the expansion of the conflict.
Ukrainian intelligence statements and international reaction
The Director of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said earlier that about 11,000 DPRK infantrymen could be deployed in November. South Korean intelligence also confirmed information about the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia.
Estonian intelligence believes that the participation of North Korean soldiers will not change the situation at the front. At the same time, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stressed that confirmation of the DPRK’s involvement in the war in Ukraine would indicate the “level of desperation” on the part of the Kremlin.
New challenges for the US and NATO
Thus, the issue of North Korean troops’ involvement in the conflict in Ukraine is becoming increasingly relevant, posing new challenges to the United States and NATO in the context of growing global tensions. How the Biden administration will respond to these challenges will be crucial for the further development of the situation in the region.
