The morning of 21 October began with another series of tragic news from the frontline, where Russian troops continue to shell peaceful cities in Ukraine. Residential buildings and infrastructure have come under fire in various regions of the country. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reports on emergencies in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Tragic morning events in the village of Hlevakha, Kyiv region

This morning, in the village of Glevakha, Fastiv district, fragments hit a five-storey residential building, causing partial destruction of the roof. Rescuers and police immediately arrived at the scene and evacuated 43 residents, ensuring their safety. SES psychologists provided the necessary support to 15 people, helping them cope with psychological stress.

At the moment, the unstable concrete structures are being cut off at the scene to prevent further destruction. A total of 27 rescuers and three units of equipment, including heavy engineering machinery, were engaged in the response. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries.

Missile attack on Zaporizhzhia: new victims and destroyed buildings

At the same time, the residents of Zaporizhzhia found themselves in the epicentre of another missile attack. Russian troops shelled the city’s residential sector in the morning, damaging a two-storey kindergarten building. The blast wave and shrapnel damaged cars, and firefighters were urgently extinguishing a fire in two metal garages that had caught fire after the explosion.

As of 10:30 a.m., the number of victims increased to seven, three of whom were freed from the rubble by rescuers. All of the victims are currently hospitalised and the number of casualties may increase as rescuers continue their search operations. An administrative building, two garages and an outbuilding were partially destroyed and 26 cars were damaged.

Specialised and emergency services are working at the site, 42 rescuers and ten units of equipment are involved and continue to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.

Fire in Odesa: port infrastructure under attack

The situation was no less tense in Odesa, where a rocket attack last night set the port infrastructure on fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The fire was promptly extinguished by rescuers working at the scene.

Ukraine continues to bravely overcome the consequences of enemy shelling. Rescuers, police and other emergency services are working to the limit of their human capabilities to save lives and repair damage. However, each new missile strike leaves more and more marks on the map of the country, testing not only the strength of buildings but also the spirit of the Ukrainian people.
