Washington continues to support Kyiv in countering Russian aggression

The announcement was made by US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin during a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. The statement was also confirmed on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
Contents of the new assistance package
The package includes ammunition, military equipment and weapons needed to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities. Lloyd Austin assured that the United States would continue to support Ukraine under the security agreement, which is an important part of the strategy of international support for Kyiv.
Gratitude for bipartisan support from the US
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for this new aid package, as well as for the consistent support of the United States since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Zelenskyy stressed the importance of recent meetings at the international level, including in Brussels at the NATO-Ukraine Council and the G7 Defence Ministers’ meeting. He also noted the key role of the American people and President Joe Biden in supporting Ukraine.
Plans for military action and future negotiations
During the meeting, they discussed several strategic issues, including the authorisation to use long-range weapons against Russian military targets, as well as increasing the production of attack drones, cruise missiles and artillery shells. They also considered the possibility of strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, which is critical in preparing for the winter period.
Preparing for a new meeting in the Ramstein format
Separately, Zelenskyy and Austin discussed holding a new meeting in the Ramstein format, where they plan to bring together heads of state and defence ministers of allied countries to further coordinate international support for Ukraine. The supply of weapons and strengthening cooperation with international partners remain important topics.
Thanks to this coordination, Ukraine continues to strengthen its defence and prepare for new challenges on the battlefield, including the winter period, which will be an important stage in the war against Russian aggression.
