A new stage of cooperation with Germany
On 25 October, the German defence concern Rheinmetall announced the transfer of 20 more Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. This delivery was part of the so-called “ring exchange” agreement, which has already provided Ukraine with about 200 vehicles, including more than 100 Marder 1A3 models, according to the Time Ukraine Israel news portal, citing newsyou.info.
Modern technologies to increase efficiency
The Marder combat vehicles received by Ukraine are equipped with advanced technologies, including a modern laser rangefinder. This tool significantly improves the accuracy of target engagement, making Ukrainian troops more effective in performing tasks on the battlefield.
Financing and supply volumes
According to Rheinmetall, this latest batch was ordered by the German government and financed in the double-digit million euro range. The agreement also provides for the supply of other types of equipment, including Leopard tanks, which will further strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
History of cooperation
Rheinmetall first received an order from the German government for the supply of Marder armoured personnel carriers in March 2023. Since then, the company has repeatedly shipped armoured vehicles to Ukraine, demonstrating its readiness to support the country in its efforts to restore and strengthen security.
Recovery and next steps
The restoration of German combat vehicles has already begun in Ukraine under an agreement with Rheinmetall. This process demonstrates the ongoing cooperation between the countries in the field of security and defence, which is an important factor in the context of current challenges.
