“Georgian Dream is leading in the parliamentary elections in Georgia – preliminary results of the CEC

The Central Election Commission of Georgia has announced the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections, according to which the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party won 54.273% of the vote. This was reported by Echo of the Caucasus.

So far, ballots from 3,085 polling stations have been counted, which is 99.164% of the total. According to the CEC, 1,114,936 voters have cast ballots for the Georgian Dream, which is associated with pro-Russian interests.

Among other parties that gained significant support, pro-European forces are in the lead. In particular, the Coalition for Change received 10.806% of the vote (221,992 voters), Unity – National Movement – 10.094% (207,353 votes), Strong Georgia – 8.752% (179,795 votes), and Gakharia for Georgia – 7.75% (159,204 votes).

A total of 3,111 polling stations were opened during the election, including 52 polling stations abroad. The Coalition for Change received 29.076% of the vote (5,489 votes) at polling stations abroad. This was followed by Unity – National Movement with 20.839% (3,934 votes) and Georgian Dream with 17.735% (3,348 votes).

These preliminary results show that the ruling party has significant support at home, while pro-European forces are popular with voters abroad.
