Zelenskyу: BRICS summit in Kazan failed due to lack of unity between participating countries

Президент України Володимир Зеленський

The BRICS summit held in Kazan did not meet Russia’s expectations due to the absence of all leaders, including Saudi Arabia. This indicates a lack of unity in the association, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with The Times of India, Time Ukraine Israel reports.

“I think the BRICS summit was a failure. We did not see many leaders that Russia was counting on. This means that there is no real alliance in BRICS. In my opinion, the BRICS itself is being split by Putin’s war policy,” Zelenskyy stressed.

According to the President of Ukraine, the Russian dictator is trying to create polarisation between countries by dividing them into the West+ and BRICS+ blocs. However, in his opinion, he is failing because of the general awareness that Putin is the aggressor. Zelenskyy noted that even states that use cheap energy resources from Russia do not want to get involved with it because of its policy of war.

Zelenskyy also noted that Russia does not seek peace, as it rejects even proposals for a peaceful settlement from China and Brazil, which is a “slap in the face” to these countries. That is why, according to the Ukrainian leader, Brazil was not represented at the summit at the level of the head of state.

In addition, the President of Ukraine commented on the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the summit, calling the decision “absurd”. Zelenskyy noted that in the context of the war between Russia and Ukraine, neutrality is tantamount to covert support for the aggressor. “Neutrality between the aggressor and the victim is a hidden support for Russia,” he said.
