President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Reykjavik to discuss financing Ukrainian defence production and preparations for the second Peace Summit. The meeting, according to official information, underlined the success of the previous Ukraine-Northern Europe summit, which had resulted in a decision to finance the production of Ukrainian weapons, ammunition and long-range vehicles.

This was reported on the website of the President of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy and Frederiksen emphasised the need to continue defence support for Ukraine, especially in terms of supplying weapons and equipment as part of the announced aid packages. They separately stressed the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s air defence systems and discussed the possibility of training and supplying a Ukrainian brigade with Scandinavian forces. Denmark, as noted, plays a significant role in supporting Ukraine by leading the Air Force Coalition.

The parties also discussed the implementation of the Peace Formula and preparations for the Second Peace Summit, in which Denmark is co-chairing the working group on energy security, the third point of the formula. President Zelenskyy also stressed the need to intensify cooperation with the countries of the Global South to restore a just peace.
