North Korean troops on the Russian front: a new level of escalation in the war against Ukraine – Mark Rutte

Марка Рютте

On Monday, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said that the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia’s Kursk region is a “significant escalation” and a violation of international UN resolutions, Reuters reports.

The new NATO Secretary General confirmed that North Korea has increased its cooperation with Russia, which, according to Rutte, threatens the security of both the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions.

Rutte noted that the Kremlin turned to Pyongyang because of growing desperation, as more than 600,000 Russian troops had suffered losses in the war. At the same time, the Kremlin partially acknowledged the presence of North Korean troops, and the Ukrainian side called on the West to respond to the new threat not only with sanctions but also with weapons supplies.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak called on partners to increase their support, as only a decisive response will be able to stop further North Korean interference in the war in Europe.
