The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) carried out a series of precision strikes on arms depots and command centres in Syria used by the Radwan unit and other Hezbollah units involved in munitions logistics. According to the IDF, the targets were located near the town of Qusayr, not far from the Syrian-Lebanese border.
These actions are in response to Hezbollah’s attempts to create an effective infrastructure for transporting weapons from Iran through Syria to Lebanon, using logistics chains across border crossings. Hezbollah’s 4400 unit, responsible for arms smuggling, has significantly increased its activities in the region in recent months.
The Israeli military notes that the strikes on Hezbollah’s command centres and weapons are part of a broader effort to prevent the organisation from strengthening its military capabilities, which is a threat to the security of both Israel and the region as a whole.
The Syrian regime’s support for Hezbollah’s terrorist activities continues to threaten not only peace in the region, but also the lives of civilians in Syria and Lebanon, as Hezbollah often places its military facilities in densely populated civilian areas.
The IDF underscores its determination to continue its efforts to ensure security and stability in the region, taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of military threats from Hezbollah and other terrorist groups.
