The Museum of the History of Religions in Lviv has opened an exhibition by Israeli photographer Dmitry Brickman that immerses visitors in the atmosphere of one of the most mystical places in the world – Jerusalem. The exhibition, titled Jerusalem is not just a city, presents photographs that reflect the unique spirit and cultural diversity of the city, which is sacred to three world religions.
According to Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky, who is known for his cultural initiatives, this exhibition was last shown in Kyiv on the eve of the war and was kept in the embassy’s warehouse for almost three years. “I am glad that we managed to present it in Lviv, a city where the history of Jews and Ukrainians is closely intertwined,” he shared on his telegram channel.
Lviv, itself a city with a rich history and culture, now hosts an exhibition that brings even more depth and multiculturalism to the local art scene. Dmitriy Brickman’s exhibition offers a unique view of Jerusalem through the lens of a camera, capturing timeless moments of the city’s life, its architecture, its inhabitants and pilgrims.
The organisers hope that “Jerusalem is not just a city” will inspire visitors to think about the relationship between religion, culture and history, and highlight the importance of preserving these aspects in the modern world.
