The Belgian company Thales and a Ukrainian defence company have signed a memorandum on the joint production of missiles to be used to counter enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was announced on his Telegram channel by the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Herman Smetanin.
“THALES Belgium has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ukrainian defence company. This agreement provides for the joint production of missiles to counter enemy UAVs,” Smetanin said. The minister also expressed hope that over time, the cooperation will expand to the transfer of modern technologies and components for these missiles to Ukraine.
According to the minister, the agreement is a significant step towards strengthening Ukraine’s defence and industrial potential and ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure from drone attacks. Smetanin thanked Thales for its support of Ukraine’s defence sector and willingness to develop cooperation aimed at strengthening the country’s defence capabilities.
The joint production of missiles to combat drones, which pose a serious threat to civilian and military targets, should significantly increase the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defence and provide a new level of protection against air attacks.
