Amid preparations for the US presidential election, representatives of the Democratic Party have expressed their readiness to counter the possible self-proclamation of victory by Republican candidate Donald Trump. According to Reuters, which cites representatives of Kamala Harris’ campaign headquarters and party officials, the Democratic Party plans to actively use the media to ensure a fair vote count.
Trump, who has already announced the possibility of an early declaration of victory, has caused concern among Democrats who are keen to prevent a repeat of the 2020 scenario, when he declared himself the winner before the final vote count. “If he does this again, we are prepared to go on television immediately and get the truth out, using a wide network of influencers,” – Harris said.
Democrats plan to actively use social media and television to call for calm and patience during the vote count, especially in key states where recounts are possible. The Harris campaign expressed confidence that their strategy would help preserve the democratic process and prevent disinformation.
Tensions are rising in the week leading up to the 5 November election, but opinion polls show that more than 80% of Americans are prepared to accept the outcome of the election, regardless of the winner. This underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in an election process that will shape the country’s future for the next four years.
