In his latest statement, the Secretary General of the Shiite organisation Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, made a sharp statement regarding the organisation’s further actions in the conflict with Israel. He said that attacks on Israeli territory will only increase and will not stop until the “enemy” calls for a truce, TimeUkraineIsrael reports with reference to Israelinfo.
“The war will intensify”
“Rockets and drones will continue to fly into Israel. There are no unattainable targets in the enemy’s territory for us. The war will only intensify, and we will not ask for a ceasefire. It is the enemy who will ask for the end of the war,” Kassem stressed.
A safe place for Kasem
While ordinary Lebanese citizens are suffering the consequences of the war, especially its Shiite community, Qassem himself continues to stay in the safety of Iran, where he has been for several weeks, as confirmed by Arab press sources.
The power of Hezbollah
The Hezbollah Secretary General also said that the organisation has sufficient resources to continue the conflict. “We have all the necessary means: well-trained fighters and weapons to continue the fight against Israel,” he stressed. According to him, “the only thing that will determine the outcome of this war is its course on the ground and in the air, using our missiles. We have no other choice but to move forward to victory. It is better than surrender,” he added.
Lack of willingness to negotiate
Kassem noted that Hezbollah does not intend to make any concessions to end the conflict, and when the “enemy” decides to stop its aggression, only then can indirect negotiations be held. But they, in his opinion, should be based on two principles: the cessation of hostilities and respect for Lebanese sovereignty. It should be noted that this statement did not mention the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which requires Hezbollah to withdraw beyond the Litani River.
Political difficulties in Israel
The Secretary General also touched upon internal political difficulties in Israel, including the dismissal of Defence Minister Galant. “Netanyahu cannot win because he relies only on crimes. He has no support among his people, unlike us, who draw strength from our faith in Allah,” he concluded.
Kassem has actually announced that the war will continue until Israel makes concessions, demonstrating a kind of stubbornness and readiness for an even greater escalation of the conflict, while thousands of civilians, both in Israel and Lebanon, are becoming victims of this war.
