Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed concern over the lack of concrete steps by the European Union to counter the Israeli government’s crimes against Palestine and Lebanon. This is reported by the news portal TimeUkraineIsrael with reference to the Iranian news agency Irna.
The senior diplomat noted that the European Union has not been sufficiently active in responding to Israel’s violations of international law, in particular its aggressive actions against Palestinians and Lebanese, which is a matter of serious concern. During a telephone conversation with Finnish Foreign Minister Elini Valtonen, Araghchi stated: “It is a matter of great concern that the EU is not taking real steps to stop Israel’s criminal actions and its violence against civilians in Palestine and Lebanon.”
The ministers discussed a number of important topics, including the current situation in West Asia, which Iran considers to be the result of the Israeli regime’s aggression, which has led to a large-scale humanitarian crisis. Araghchi also stressed that Iran, as a nation, has always strived for peace, despite the numerous challenges faced by its society.
The Finnish diplomat, in turn, expressed concern about the situation in the region and noted that Finland hopes for a speedy restoration of peace and stability in West Asia. In addition, both diplomats agreed on the importance of further talks on strengthening bilateral relations and developing consular cooperation between the two countries.
This conversation underscores the continuing tensions in the region and the lack of a clear European strategy for resolving conflicts in the Middle East. Iran is known to actively oppose Israel’s policies, which in turn leads to a sharp deterioration in relations between the two countries and the international community.
