Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal called on European countries to do everything possible to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. He told reporters before the summit of the European Political Community in Budapest, Bloomberg and Ukrinform reported.
“There are two important topics on the agenda today. The first is Ukraine. The full-scale Russian aggression has been going on for almost a thousand days now, and Europe must do everything to help Ukraine implement its Victory Plan by continuing to provide it with comprehensive support,” said Michal.
The second topic of the summit, according to the Prime Minister, is the economic security of Europe. He stressed the need to strengthen the resilience of the European economy during crises, paying particular attention to energy dependence on Russia.
“Europe is still spending more than €30 billion on Russian energy. This is unreasonable. If you want the Russian military coffers to be empty, you need to invest in our own energy resources,” Michal stressed, calling on EU countries to invest more in their own energy sources to reduce dependence on Russian supplies.
The meeting in Budapest brought together European leaders to discuss strategic issues, among which support for Ukraine remains at the top of the list.
