President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed further military support for Ukraine in the context of a full-scale war with Russia. According to Zelenskyy’s Facebook post, the key topics of the conversation were assistance in training the Ukrainian Anna Kyiv brigade and opportunities to expand Ukraine’s strategic capabilities, particularly in the field of long-range missile defence.

“We discussed military assistance, in particular the training of the Anna Kyiv brigade, as well as the development of our long-range capabilities,” the Ukrainian leader said.

For its part, the French president’s press service said that Macron had reaffirmed France’s unwavering position in support of Ukraine. “France will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary to enable Ukraine to achieve a just and sustainable peace,” the official statement said.

Macron also condemned the alleged involvement of the North Korean military in supporting the Russian army, which Kyiv, Seoul and Western countries say is a new escalation of the conflict. The French president stressed that this is an “unacceptable escalation” and a “new level of international escalation” on European soil.

The President of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to France for its continued support and said that Ukraine would continue to strengthen its defence positions with the help of international partners, including France.
