Intensity of attacks by Russian troops increased at the frontline – Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff

ЗСУ

Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defence forces repelled 171 combat engagements with Russian troops, who intensified attacks in several areas, including Pokrovske and Kurakhove. This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on 9 November.

In response to the aggressive actions of the occupiers, the missile forces and artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit two areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons and equipment, an ammunition depot and two command posts.

During the day, Russian troops launched 5 missile strikes, firing 7 missiles, carried out 82 air strikes, using 137 guided bombs, and conducted 4,345 artillery attacks, including 103 from multiple launch rocket systems. In addition, 1,333 kamikaze drones were used in the attacks.

The most intense shelling and air strikes took place in the vicinity of populated areas in Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

In key areas, the situation is as follows:

  • Kupyansk sector: The enemy conducted 14 attacks, including on Ukrainian positions near Kindrashivka, Kolisnykivka and Berestove.
  • Liman direction: 12 Russian attacks were registered, attempting to break into the defence near Hrekivka and Hryhorivka.
  • Northern direction: Five enemy attacks near Bilohorivka and Verkhnekamianske were repelled.
  • Pokrovske direction: Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped 36 Russian attacks in the areas of Novotoretske, Promin and other localities.
  • Kurakhove sector: 40 attacks were registered, including on positions near Illinka, Novoselydivka, Maksymivka and Antonivka.
  • Orikhivske direction: The enemy stormed Ukrainian positions near Novoandriivka 5 times.

No signs of enemy offensive groups forming in the Volyn and Polissya sectors were observed.

Intensive attacks and the use of air power indicate that Russian forces are attempting to increase pressure in key areas of the frontline, but Ukrainian forces continue to hold defensive positions.
