Aliyah Fair: A Kyiv initiative for the Jewish community

Despite the security challenges and numerous air raids, Kyiv hosted an important event – an immigration fair for Ukrainian Jews interested in the possibility of aliyah (moving to Israel). The event, which gathered hundreds of visitors, was held against the backdrop of the Iron Swords War, which has significantly reduced the flow of immigrants from Ukraine: only about 1,000 people have been able to move to Israel since October. This was reported by TimeUkraineIsrael with reference to Ynet.

Partnership and support: cooperation between agencies and local authorities

The fair was organised by the Jewish Agency in cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, the Friendship Fund, Ofek Israeli and the Chicago Federation. Support was provided by representatives of the local authorities of Acre, Migdal HaEmek, Nagariya and Jerusalem. The event united the efforts of various organisations supporting the Jewish community and provided visitors with access to up-to-date information on educational programmes, resettlement routes and opportunities for adaptation in Israel.

Eran Berkovic: Connecting with Ukrainian Jews is critical

Eran Berkovich, representative of the Jewish Agency for Eastern Europe, stressed the particular importance of such events supporting the Jewish community of Ukraine: “Despite the difficult situation, we see great importance in strengthening ties between Israel and the Jewish community of Ukraine. The fair is an important bridge that unites the Jews of Kyiv and Israel.”

Supporting Jewish organisations: from Masa to Gebehim

Among the organisations that took part in the fair were such well-known structures as Masa, Gebehim, the Israeli Health Insurance Fund, the Israel Experience Organisation, and others. The programmes and resources presented at the fair were aimed at helping Jews resettle and adapt to life in Israel, providing support in the areas of education, healthcare and integration. The fair provided a platform for discussion and networking that strengthens Jewish identity and commitment to common values, even in times of crisis.

Despite all the challenges, this fair has become a shining example of the unity and resilience of the Jewish community in Ukraine and beyond, demonstrating the State of Israel’s unwavering support for its compatriots around the world.
