The European Business Association (EBA) has addressed an open letter to the Ukrainian authorities, calling for a renewed dialogue with business on updating the procedure for booking employees. The EBA believes that maintaining economic activity is a vital factor in ensuring the country’s resilience, especially during mobilisation processes. Therefore, it is necessary to balance the needs of defence capability with economic stability, according to the EBA. This is reported by TimeUkraineIsrael portal with reference to the statement of the Association.
Maintaining a dialogue between government agencies and business on booking will create transparent and predictable conditions for the operation of enterprises that are critical to the economy. The EBA emphasises that this will also avoid possible abuse by officials and ensure the stability of providing critical personnel for business operations in times of war.
In its appeal, the EBA called for an open meeting between the authorities and all stakeholders to discuss the results of the audit, which defines the criteria for granting critical enterprises the status of critical. This status allows for the booking of employees needed to perform strategic economic tasks.
The appeal was sent to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, the Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov and the Minister of Veterans Affairs Natalia Kalmykova.
The European Business Association hopes that the authorities will take into account the importance of this issue for supporting the economy and will take into account the calls of the business community to ensure transparency and efficiency of mobilisation processes without harming the country’s economic activity.
