Minister of Aliyah and Integration Ofer Sofer emphasised the special significance of the celebration in the face of current challenges

This year, Aliyah Day, which is traditionally celebrated in Israel, has taken on a special meaning. In an interview with Arutz 7 TV, Minister of Aliyah and Integration Ofer Sofer emphasised that immigration to Israel has become a true symbol of solidarity and unity among Jews around the world. “The return to Israel is the pinnacle of solidarity that we have experienced over the past year,” he said, explaining that it is not just a movement of people, but a manifestation of deep commitment to the people and the land. This was reported by TimeUkraineIsrael portal with reference to Israeli Channel 7.

Solidarity through immigration: symbols of unity

Ofer Sofer stressed that Aliyah Day is not only a celebration of the return of Jews to the Holy Land, but also a moment when all Israelis can feel the power of national unity. “This year, we have seen even more clearly how our strength is growing through unity. A huge part of this strength is in the new immigrants who, despite all the difficulties, cross the ocean and come to serve Israel,” he stressed.

The Minister noted that it is particularly important how these people, who leave their families and homelands, become part of the Israeli army and society. Their decision to leave everything behind to serve in Israel is a vivid example of solidarity in practice, an embodiment of the idea of a nation that unites people from different parts of the world for a common goal.

Responding to anti-Semitism: immigration as a response

Ofer Sofer also noted that anti-Semitism, unfortunately, remains a serious problem in many parts of the world and is an important factor that encourages Jews to immigrate. However, even in such circumstances, they find in Israel not only security, but also support from the state and people. “We must understand that every immigration story is not just a move. It is a decisive moment in the lives of people who are looking for a new homeland, and Israel becomes it for them,” the minister stressed.

Aliyah Day was a great opportunity not only to celebrate achievements, but also to reiterate that unity is the key to Israel’s prosperity. Only together, as one nation, can the country overcome any challenges and secure a future for its citizens.
