Ukraine receives $1.35bn grant from the US for humanitarian and social programmes

Ukraine has received a $1.35 billion grant from the United States to support humanitarian and social programmes in the country. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel, Time Ukraine Israel reports.

“Ukraine has received a $1.35 billion grant from the United States. We are allocating these funds for priority humanitarian and social programmes,” Shmyhal said.

The grant was provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with the U.S. Treasury Department and the U.S. Department of State. The Prime Minister thanked the US partners for their support, stressing the importance of continued cooperation to mobilise the necessary financial resources in the coming years.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine also noted that this year’s total budget support from the United States is $7.8 billion, of which $5.2 billion has already been mobilised. Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko stressed that since February 2022, the US has provided Ukraine with direct budgetary assistance worth $28.2 billion, which is the largest financial contribution of any country.
