On 16 November, the New York auction house RM Sotheby’s put up for sale a historic Ferrari 248 F1 car, which the legendary seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher raced in 2006. This year was his last as part of the Italian team, where he had competed for 11 years, DW reports .
The Ferrari 248 F1 with chassis number 254 became an important milestone in Schumacher’s career, helping him to win five victories and set a new record for the number of pole positions, surpassing the achievement of his idol Ayrton Senna. In 2006, Schumacher finished second in the overall championship standings, behind Spaniard Fernando Alonso.
It is expected that the car will attract considerable attention among collectors, and the new owner will pay a significant amount for it. In 2022, Schumacher’s car from the 2003 season was sold for 14.69 million Swiss francs (approximately 14.85 million euros).
The current owner of this Ferrari purchased it directly from the team in December 2007. The auction will run until 19 November, giving collectors the opportunity to compete for a piece of history associated with the legendary German racer.
